Resident Medical Officer – 2027 Tasmania Statewide Recruitment

About the role

The Resident Medical Officer (RMO) will join Tasmania's public health system for a fixed‑term appointment starting 11 January 2027. You will manage inpatient and outpatient care across several hospitals, provide after‑hours emergency cover, and have the opportunity to rotate through rural practice sites.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver day‑to‑day clinical management of private and public in‑patients and out‑patients.
• Provide after‑hours emergency coverage as required by the work unit.
• Participate in scheduled rotations to rural practice sites across the state.
• Work 76 hours per fortnight on a full‑time or part‑time basis.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in multiple hospital campuses.

Required profile

• Qualified Medical Practitioner Level 2‑4 under the Medical Practitioners Agreement 2025.
• Eligibility for employer‑sponsored visa and relocation assistance for overseas applicants.
• Willingness to work in Launceston, North West Tasmania, or Hobart locations.
• Commitment to a fixed‑term contract (potential extension to 24 months).
