Purchasing Officer - Heavy Mining Equipment

About the role

We are looking for a Purchasing Officer to manage the procurement of heavy mining equipment, OEM and aftermarket spare parts, consumables and services for our operations in Western Australia. You will work closely with maintenance, operations and suppliers to ensure timely delivery and cost‑effective solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Procure heavy mining equipment, spare parts and consumables in line with operational and maintenance requirements.
• Liaise with maintenance, operations and suppliers to provide updates on parts availability, lead times, pricing and delivery status.
• Source cost‑effective purchasing solutions through supplier agreements, catalogues, technical manuals and market research.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with OEMs and suppliers, negotiate pricing and expedite urgent or breakdown‑related orders.
• Interpret technical specifications, parts manuals and equipment information to ensure accurate procurement.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records and process purchase orders and invoices using JDE ERP.
• Support maintenance planning and forecasting to minimise equipment downtime.
• Promote a strong safety culture and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in business, supply chain, procurement or a related discipline.
• 2–5 years’ purchasing or procurement experience in mining, heavy industry or construction, with exposure to heavy mining equipment and spare parts.
• Understanding of HME equipment, components and maintenance supply requirements.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Well‑developed negotiation and supplier management abilities.

Required skills

• JDE ERP system proficiency.
