Pharmacy Assistant

About the role

Join the pharmacy team at Rockhampton Hospital to provide essential medication services. You will support pharmacists by preparing, dispensing and supplying medicines, while ensuring safe and compliant pharmacy operations.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, dispense and supply medications from prescriptions and inpatient charts.
• Compound non‑sterile products.
• Manage pharmacy logistics: ordering, receiving, storing, distributing pharmaceuticals and Imprest systems.
• Rotate stock, monitor expiry dates and process returned drugs.
• Maintain pharmacy data, assist with PBS claims and support quality improvement activities.
• Participate in departmental roster and mentor other pharmacy support staff.

Required profile

• Certificate III in Community Pharmacy (SIR30116) or Certificate III in Hospital/Health Services Pharmacy Support (HLT37121), with willingness to obtain HLTPHA001.
• Ability to work under direction of a registered pharmacist, showing initiative and responsibility.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for interaction with pharmacists and healthcare team.
• Reliable team player with good organisational abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with pharmacy software and computer systems.
• Inventory management and stock rotation.
• Dispensing processes and knowledge of relevant legislation.
