Operator Trainer

About the role

Mining Skills Australia (MSA) is seeking experienced mining fleet operators or crew trainers to join their Training Department as an Operator Trainer. The role focuses on coaching and mentoring production operators, delivering step‑up and refresher training, and promoting preventive‑maintenance awareness while remaining hands‑on in the mining environment.

Key responsibilities

• Coach and mentor production operators through step‑up and refresher training sessions.
• Deliver practical, safety‑focused training that reinforces best‑practice equipment use.
• Build preventive‑maintenance awareness by helping operators recognise early wear indicators.
• Communicate clearly with crew, supervisors, and clients, providing timely feedback.
• Represent MSA and its clients with professional presentation and a solutions‑focused attitude.
• Tailor training delivery to align with site standards, procedures, and operating conditions.

Required profile

• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116 or TAE40110) or part‑completion.
• Valid Australian driver’s licence.
• RII/Machine competency certifications.
• Hands‑on experience delivering operator step‑up or refresher training.
• Basic proficiency with computers or Android tablets.
• Minimum 3 years operating production excavators, dozers, graders or loaders.
