About the role

The National Sales Manager will develop, lead and execute the nationwide sales strategy for a premium global OEM manufacturer of industrial batteries and energy storage solutions. Based in Australia, the role is responsible for profitable growth, strategic customer partnerships and value‑based selling, leveraging local manufacturing, engineering expertise and lifecycle services.

Key responsibilities

  • Define and implement a national sales strategy aligned with company growth objectives, targeting revenue, margin and market‑share goals across all product categories.
  • Identify and pursue growth opportunities in emerging sectors such as energy storage, renewables integration and automation.
  • Position the business on total cost of ownership, reliability, safety, compliance and local supply‑chain security.
  • Drive market penetration in key verticals including logistics, elevated work platforms, leisure energy systems, mining, utilities, telecommunications and data centres.
  • Build, lead and coach a high‑performing national sales team, setting KPIs for revenue, gross margin, pipeline and customer retention.
  • Manage top‑tier national accounts and OEM partners, leading complex contract negotiations, tenders and long‑term service agreements (3‑7+ years).
  • Own the national P&L contribution of the sales function and the pricing strategy to protect margins.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, supply‑chain and service teams to align demand forecasting, inventory and project delivery.
  • Develop and grow aftermarket revenue through maintenance, replacement cycles and fleet management.

Required profile

  • Proven senior sales leadership experience in industrial or energy‑storage markets.
  • Track record of delivering profitable growth and managing large‑scale national accounts.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience in pricing, tendering and long‑term contract structuring.
  • Ability to lead and develop high‑performing sales teams across multiple regions.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills at executive, procurement and engineering levels.
