Mechanical Project Engineer – Water & Wastewater

About the role

Our client, a specialist engineering firm in the water and wastewater sector, is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to join their growing Adelaide team. The role focuses on delivering innovative treatment systems and engineered solutions for industrial and infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities

• Produce concept designs, detailed engineering drawings, and 3D models for water and wastewater treatment equipment.
• Manage engineering projects from initial concept through to manufacture, installation, and commissioning.
• Collaborate closely with internal teams, suppliers, and manufacturing partners.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, reports, BOMs, and project records.
• Liaise with fabrication and manufacturing providers throughout project delivery.

Required profile

• At least 2 years of experience in mechanical, project, design, or process engineering.
• Experience on water, wastewater, industrial process, or utilities projects.
• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven ability to take projects from concept to installation while managing timelines and budgets.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.

Required skills

• Pumps, piping, valves, tanks, and treatment systems.
• Reading and interpreting P&IDs and engineering drawings.
• 3D CAD software.
• Fabricated equipment, sheet metal, and skid‑based systems.
• Creating and maintaining BOMs and using an MRP system.
