Mechanical Engineer

About the role

3M is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for its manufacturing plant in Perth, Ontario. You will support daily production operations and help achieve plant goals for safety, quality, service and productivity.

Key responsibilities

• Initiate, identify, recommend and oversee programs to improve safety, quality and cost.
• Lead small‑ to medium‑scale capital projects related to safety, quality, service, productivity or new product implementation.
• Provide daily engineering support to optimise plant safety, quality, service and cost.
• Participate in and lead process and productivity improvement initiatives.
• Perform and guide technical activities that extend existing or new products and technologies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (completed prior to start).
• Degree focus in Mechanical or Electro‑mechanical Engineering preferred.
• Familiarity with extrusion technologies (material handling, compounding, die coating, web handling) is an asset.
• Strong electro‑mechanical troubleshooting skills in automation and industrial processes.
• Good programming skills in PLC, AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
• Demonstrated project‑management proficiency.
• Experience with Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing tools.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng) registration, limited licence or enrollment in an EIT program.
• Valid driver’s licence; travel up to 5% of the time.
