Level 3 Technical Service Engineer

About the role

The Technical Service Engineer will sustain, support and continuously improve critical on‑premises virtualisation and hyper‑converged infrastructure platforms for government ICT environments. Reporting to the Compute Technical Lead, the role ensures compute systems are performant, secure, resilient and highly available.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day support for Nutanix, VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper‑V platforms, monitoring performance, health and availability.
• Administer backup solutions (HYCU, Data Protection Manager), conduct regular recovery testing and support DR activities.
• Participate in incident, service request and change management processes, including on‑call duties for Defence exercises.
• Execute lifecycle management tasks such as hypervisor patching, firmware updates and version upgrades while maintaining security baselines.
• Collaborate with storage and network teams to ensure cross‑platform integration and performance.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience in virtualisation, infrastructure or systems administration.
• Active NV1 (or higher) security clearance and ITIL V3/4 Foundation certification.
• Ability to work both independently and within multidisciplinary teams in secure environments.
