Legal Counsel (12‑month contract)

About the role

The Legal Counsel will join RAC Group’s broader legal team to provide commercial legal support and ensure compliance with relevant legislation. This is a 12‑month contract position offering hybrid and flexible working arrangements.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, negotiate and review a wide range of commercial contracts.
• Conduct legal research and deliver clear advice on financial services, privacy, data protection, member disputes, commercial leasing and other regulatory matters.
• Monitor legislative changes and guidance from ASIC, APRA, AFCA and OAIC.
• Support RAC Group’s growth initiatives, including M&A activity and ASIC registrations.
• Prepare and update customer‑facing terms and conditions for RAC products and services.
• Assist business units with general legal queries, contract management and policy development.
• Coordinate external legal counsel when required.

Required profile

• Post‑qualified experience in a top or mid‑tier law firm with in‑house secondment exposure.
• Proven ability to prepare and negotiate commercial contracts and apply contract law principles.
• Experience in financial services, disputes or litigation is advantageous.
• Strong stakeholder management and collaborative teamwork skills.
• LLB or equivalent and a current Western Australian practising certificate.
