Junior Software Engineer

About the role

Leidos Australia is looking for a Junior Software Engineer to join its engineering delivery team. You will work on enterprise and mission‑critical systems, applying foundational software engineering practices under close supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, configure and test software components according to defined requirements and engineering standards.
• Contribute to all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle, including build, integration, testing and deployment support.
• Implement and maintain code using approved programming languages, frameworks, APIs and design patterns.
• Perform unit testing, troubleshoot technical issues and resolve routine software defects, escalating when necessary.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to clarify requirements and assist with system integration activities.
• Maintain technical documentation and follow engineering, security and ITIL‑aligned service management processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent vocational training/industry experience.
• Foundational experience or exposure to software development through academic projects or enterprise environments.
• Understanding of software development lifecycle practices.
