IT Director – Technology Infrastructure, Finance & Commercial

About the role

The IT Director – Technology Infrastructure, Finance & Commercial will join Aurecon’s technology leadership team in Melbourne, reporting directly to the CIO. This senior position provides end‑to‑end ownership of enterprise technology infrastructure, workplace services, and the finance and commercial functions of the IT organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead strategy, design, delivery and continuous improvement of enterprise technology infrastructure and workplace services.
• Define and execute infrastructure roadmaps aligned to business priorities, security, resilience and future growth.
• Reduce technical debt while improving performance, reliability and employee technology experience.
• Champion the end‑to‑end employee technology experience across tools, devices and core collaboration platforms.
• Manage $30M annual IT operating expenditure and $7M capital investment, overseeing total technology spend exceeding $100M.
• Establish strong financial governance, budgeting, forecasting and cost transparency across IT.
• Drive sustainable cost optimisation and clearly articulate the value of IT services.
• Lead strategic sourcing, vendor performance and commercial negotiations with over 300 suppliers.
• Oversee contracts, service levels, benefit realisation and long‑term technology partnerships.
• Lead and develop senior managers across infrastructure, hosting, connectivity, workplace technology, finance and commercial portfolios.

Required profile

• Proven senior IT leadership experience, preferably at director level.
• Strong financial and commercial acumen with experience managing large OPEX and CAPEX budgets.
• Ability to influence executive stakeholders and drive strategic technology transformation.
• Extensive experience in vendor and partner management, including negotiation and performance oversight.
• Demonstrated capability to lead and develop senior technology teams.
