Intermediate Tax Accountant – Business Advisory

About the role

This is an opportunity for an Intermediate Tax Accountant to join a boutique accounting firm in Melbourne CBD. You will work across a diverse client base, supporting companies, trusts, partnerships, SMSFs and large family groups on compliance, reporting and tax matters.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare financial statements and income tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships and SMSFs.
• Handle GST, CGT, FBT and Division 7A matters.
• Support tax planning and resolve key tax issues.
• Maintain asset registers, journals and reconciliations.
• Liaise with the ATO for lodgement extensions and payment arrangements.
• Research and interpret taxation legislation, rulings and guidance.
• Manage client matters and attend professional development events.

Required profile

• More than 1 year of local business services experience.
• Working towards CA or CPA qualification.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• High attention to detail and a practical client‑focused approach.
• Ability to work independently in a self‑directed environment.
• Strong research skills and willingness to deepen technical knowledge.
