Instrumental Music Specialist and Ensemble Conductor

About the role

Reddam House North Shore, part of the Inspired Education group of premium private schools, is expanding due to rising enrolments and is seeking experienced Instrumental Music Specialists and Ensemble Conductors for its music department, which serves Primary and High School students. Positions are open at Reddam North Shore (North Sydney) and Reddam Sydney (Woollahra/Bondi). Applicants submit a CV and cover letter.

Key responsibilities

• Teach individual lessons in strings (violin, viola, cello, double bass), woodwind (clarinet, flute, oboe, saxophone, bassoon), brass (trumpet, trombone, French horn, lower brass), voice, piano, percussion (drums and orchestral percussion) and guitar.
• Conduct ensembles including choirs, jazz bands, string ensembles, orchestras and chamber music, concert bands and brass ensembles, Orff percussion ensembles, keyboard/synthesiser ensembles and piano duets, and rock bands.
• Manage lesson schedules, ensemble rehearsals and student progress.

Required profile

• Proven expertise in instrumental and vocal teaching and ensemble direction.
• Experience working with students of various ages, both primary and high school.
• Valid Working with Children Check (WWCC).
• Classroom teaching qualifications are not required.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with students, parents and colleagues.
• Organisational and administrative ability.
• High-level performance skills and up-to-date knowledge of music teaching practice.
