Group Planning and Reporting Analyst

About the role

SBS is hiring a Group Planning and Reporting Analyst for a full-time, ongoing Sydney-based position (3 days in the office, 2 days from home). Reporting to the Senior Group Planning & Reporting Manager, the role plays a central part in delivering high-quality government and corporate reporting, budgeting and financial analysis across SBS. It has no direct reports and works with stakeholders to support informed decision making, ensure compliance with Commonwealth requirements and improve financial outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver government, Board and Executive financial reporting, including analysis of performance, risks and opportunities.
• Evaluate capital investment proposals and support investment governance through financial analysis and recommendations.
• Develop financial models, scenario analysis and business insights to support strategic initiatives and decision making.
• Partner with divisional stakeholders to improve forecast accuracy, strengthen financial accountability and drive continuous improvement.

Required profile

• CPA or CA qualification and hands-on management accounting and financial planning and analysis experience.
• Strong experience preparing budgets, forecasts, financial analysis and management reporting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, able to engage with stakeholders at all levels, including Directors.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel, including building financial models and scenario analysis.
• Experience with systems such as TM1 and Oracle is highly regarded.
• Exposure to government reporting requirements is highly regarded.
