Faculty Opportunity in Cancer Plasticity & Dormancy

About the role

The Garvan Institute is seeking faculty‑level scientists or clinician‑scientists to join its Cancer Plasticity and Dormancy Program. The role focuses on fundamental biological questions related to cancer field cancerisation, clonal evolution, cell competition, and ecological oncology.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and lead an independent research programme aligned with the program’s cancer questions.
• Secure funding and manage a startup package to establish a research presence.
• Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams within Garvan and with national and international partners.
• Publish high‑quality scientific outputs and contribute to the institute’s strategic vision.

• Scientist or clinician‑scientist with a clear research vision.
• Demonstrated track record of independent, creative thinking and high‑impact publications appropriate to career stage.
• Commitment to multidisciplinary collaboration and diversity in research.
