About the role

Mercy Health's Werribee Mercy Hospital is expanding its Emergency Department, which will serve an additional 25,000 patients each year. The new department is ACEM accredited as a non-major referral centre for 2 years of training. Mercy Health is recruiting Emergency Medicine Registrars for 2026, working 43 hours per week, to help build the medical workforce from day one. The vacancy is advertised through Randstad.

Key responsibilities

• Provide emergency care in state-of-the-art facilities, including 4 new resuscitation bays, a 16-bed Short Stay Unit, and purpose-built fast track, paediatric and behavioural assessment zones.
• Rotate in-house to other specialties that satisfy non-ED training such as ICU, Anaesthetics and Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
• Satisfy the Paediatric Logbook component of training.
• Take advantage of weekly protected registrar education and direct FACEM mentorship as the service grows.

Required profile

• AHPRA registration as a Medical Practitioner.
• High standards of practice with a strong commitment to consumer and carer-focused service.
• Ability to work flexibly within the Public Emergency Health Services system; prior experience in that system is of benefit.
• Compassion, professionalism and flexibility, with a commitment to patient-centred care and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

What we offer

• Salary from $2,481.70 per week in Registrar Year 1 to $3,415.81 per week in Registrar Year 6.
