Drill Operators – HDD – 2 weeks on/2 weeks off

About the role

Iluka Resources is seeking experienced Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) operators for its Balranald operation in New South Wales. The role follows a 2‑weeks‑on, 2‑weeks‑off roster and offers exposure to unique, remotely‑operated underground mining technology.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain HK550 HDD rigs and Maxi rigs on the West Balranald deposit.
• Execute drilling programmes, manage mud processes and steering systems.
• Collect and analyse live data to optimise drilling performance.
• Coordinate with the extraction team to ensure safe and efficient ore access.
• Adhere to all high‑risk work safety protocols and site procedures.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an HDD drill operator, preferably with Maxi rig exposure.
• Certification in Horizontal Directional Drilling or equivalent.
• Valid high‑risk work tickets (Dogging, Rigging, Vehicle Loading Crane, Telehandler).
• Ability to work on a 2:2 roster in a remote site environment.
