Director, Strategy, Policy and Evaluation

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the Strategy, Policy and Evaluation team within Queensland’s science and innovation ecosystem. Based at the Ecosciences Precinct in Dutton Park, you will shape science policy, oversee legislative administration and drive evidence‑based evaluation of research investments.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a high‑performing team to deliver strategic and operational priorities for Queensland’s science agenda.
• Provide senior‑level policy advice on science, research, innovation and evaluation matters.
• Administer biodiscovery and gene‑technology legislation.
• Develop and implement evidence‑based policy and program evaluation frameworks.
• Build and maintain relationships with government agencies, research organisations, universities and industry stakeholders.
• Manage complex projects, governance processes and strategic reporting.
• Support initiatives aligned with Queensland’s science and innovation priorities.
• Contribute to branch leadership and organisational capability development.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in multidisciplinary teams and strategic projects.
• Strong strategic thinking, communication and stakeholder‑engagement abilities.
• Demonstrated capability in policy development, evaluation and analytical work.
• Experience working with senior stakeholders across government, academia and industry.
• Collaborative leadership style focused on delivering outcomes.
• Understanding of the science, research, innovation or public‑policy landscape.
