Deep Learning Engineer II

About the role

Shield AI is a venture-backed defence-tech company building intelligent systems that protect service members and civilians. It is looking for a Deep Learning Engineer II in Melbourne to work on perception capabilities for autonomous and non-autonomous platforms, turning deep-learning insights into real-time solutions on the edge.

Key responsibilities

• Research, design and implement state-of-the-art perception capabilities, moving ideas from concept to field-ready solutions.
• Work with and deploy the company's AI stack on edge devices.
• Collaborate with other deep learning engineers to architect and develop tools that scale deep learning operations.
• Stay up to date with the literature and take part in research and development projects.

Required profile

• Demonstrable experience delivering deep-learning-based solutions for computer vision problems, with industry experience of less than 1 year.
• Relevant tertiary qualification (Bachelor, Master or PhD in Computer Science or a related field).

Required skills

• Strong understanding of convolutional neural networks and/or transformers for object classification, recognition or segmentation.
• Experience implementing novel deep learning architectures with existing frameworks such as TensorFlow, Caffe, PyTorch or similar.
