Credit Controller

About the role

McCabes Lawyers is seeking a Credit Controller to join its finance team on a full‑time basis. The role focuses on managing credit control, ensuring timely collection of client invoices, and maintaining strong client relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and chase outstanding invoices to secure timely payments.
• Contact clients via phone, email or mail to resolve payment queries and negotiate payment plans.
• Conduct regular account reconciliations, identify discrepancies and resolve billing disputes.
• Generate reports on outstanding invoices, collections and ageing debts for management.
• Collaborate with the billing team to address invoice discrepancies and ensure compliance.
• Assess creditworthiness of new clients and recommend credit limits or terms.

Required profile

• Minimum three years’ experience in credit control, accounts receivable or a similar role, preferably in legal or professional services.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to negotiate and manage difficult conversations.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational and time‑management abilities.
• Ability to analyse payment delays, identify root causes and propose effective solutions.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Aderant or a similar practice‑management system.
• Advanced use of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
