Associated Structural Engineer – Industrial/Mining

About the role

Aurecon is seeking an experienced Associate Structural Engineer to lead the delivery of major industrial and mining infrastructure projects in Perth. You will provide technical governance, strategic direction, and act as a trusted client advisor while driving commercial success.

Key responsibilities

• Lead structural delivery across major industrial/mining projects from concept through detailed design and construction support.
• Provide technical authority and assurance through design reviews, verification, risk management and governance across multiple projects.
• Manage and grow client relationships, offering trusted advice on scope, options, risk, constructability and delivery strategy.
• Lead and mentor engineering teams, fostering a high‑performance, safety‑focused culture.
• Drive commercial outcomes including scope/fee development, resourcing, programme planning, margin and risk management.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary interfaces (civil, mechanical, piping, electrical, drafting/BIM) and align delivery with offshore or distributed teams.
• Support work‑winning activities such as proposals, tender strategy, partner engagement and identification of repeat opportunities.

Required profile

• Significant experience leading structural design and delivery for industrial/mining infrastructure (process plants, material handling, conveyors, pipe racks, heavy equipment support, steel and concrete structures, foundations, brownfield upgrades).
• Strong knowledge of Australian Standards and local construction practices, including AS/NZS 1170, AS 4100, AS 3600 and relevant industry guidelines.
• Proven leadership capability: mentoring engineers, coordinating multidisciplinary deliverables and providing robust technical review/assurance.
• High commercial acumen with a record of work‑winning and client relationship management.
