Associate Mechanical Engineer – HVAC (Sydney)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Associate Mechanical Engineer to lead HVAC and building services design on complex projects across Sydney. You will act as the primary mechanical design engineer, managing projects from concept through delivery while collaborating with clients, architects, and developers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and documentation of HVAC systems for hospitals, schools, mixed‑use developments and infrastructure.
• Produce tender packages, fee proposals and manage project profitability.
• Mentor and QA the work of a team of design engineers.
• Maintain compliance with Australian Standards, the NCC, Greenstar and NABERS.
• Engage directly with clients and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

Required profile

• 7+ years of experience in building services or a multidisciplinary engineering consultancy.
• Proven ability to manage key MEP projects, not limited to HVAC.
• Strong client‑facing skills and experience leading a design team.
• Current knowledge of Australian Standards, NCC and sustainability rating systems.
