Terminal Operator – Intermodal (Sydney)

About the role

Pacific National is seeking a dedicated Terminal Operator to join its 24/7 Sydney Freight Terminal team. You will play a key part in ensuring safe and efficient rail freight movements, supporting the company’s promise of safety every day.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble and dismantle trains, including marshalling and shunting rolling stock.
• Load and unload containers on freight trains using forklifts and other load‑lifting equipment, handling dangerous goods where required.
• Conduct train inspections, brake testing and minor defect rectification.
• Process freight and operational documentation via terminal systems.
• Maintain high safety, quality and customer service standards while keeping training competencies up to date.

Required profile

• Current LF Forklift licence and a valid Driver licence (essential).
• Mechanical aptitude and basic computer skills.
• Strong focus on safety, compliance and teamwork.
• Flexibility to work a rotating 24/7 roster.
• Ability to meet medical and rail safety requirements.
• Rail experience such as shunting and train inspection is highly regarded.
