Systems Maintainer – Mechanical Signalling

About the role

We are seeking a Systems Maintainer to join Queensland Rail’s Regional Assets North, Wayside Systems team at the Cairns depot. In this hands‑on position you will ensure the safe and reliable operation of mechanical signalling equipment across a region from Cairns to Townsville.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain and repair mechanical signalling equipment.
• Assist with maintenance and repair of standby generator plants.
• Perform work in accordance with WH&S standards.
• Complete administrative and record‑keeping tasks accurately.
• Contribute to improvement of work procedures and report on completed tasks against maintenance plans.

Required profile

• Certificate III in Mechanical Rail Signalling.
• Current driver’s licence.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and commitment to safety.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Willingness to travel across regional Queensland and work overtime or weekends as required.

What we offer

• 9‑day fortnight schedule (Monday‑Friday with every second Friday off).
• Annual salary $90,000‑$100,000 plus 12.75% superannuation.
