Systems Administrator (Windows/Linux) – HMAS Watson

About the role

The Systems Administrator will configure, maintain, and ensure reliable operation of ICT systems in a mission‑critical defence environment. This role focuses on high availability, performance, and security of networked servers while supporting training systems and operational readiness.

Key responsibilities

• User and access management
• System maintenance, updates and patch management
• Documentation and training of new team members
• System monitoring, analysis and incident troubleshooting
• Infrastructure management, including servers, switches, routers and firewalls

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or related field
• Australian citizenship with an existing Defence Security Clearance
• Ability to work on‑site five days a week at HMAS Watson
• Strong technical expertise in Windows and Linux operating systems
• Knowledge of network infrastructure and cybersecurity compliance
• Experience with system hardening and patch management processes
