Software Engineer – Payments Acquiring Team

About the role

Join Cuscal’s Acquiring team as a Software Engineer and help build innovative payment solutions that serve millions of Australians. You will design, develop, and maintain scalable systems that integrate with key technologies across the payments ecosystem.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, test, and document high‑quality software solutions using Java and Spring Boot.
• Design and implement scalable backend services backed by PostgreSQL or other relational databases.
• Integrate applications with AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, S3, and RDS.
• Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
• Collaborate on infrastructure as code using Terraform.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and support business‑critical payment workflows.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a developer or software engineer.
• Strong hands‑on skills with Java, Spring Boot, SQL and relational databases.
• Experience delivering cloud applications on AWS.
• Familiarity with unit testing, mocking and test coverage tools (JUnit, Jest).
• Ability to build CI/CD pipelines and work with Terraform.
• Bonus: knowledge of ATM applications, PCI/DSS compliance, AS2805/ISO8353.
