Site Manager

About the role

DDR Australia is seeking a Site Manager to lead on‑site construction projects, either locally in Weipa or on a FIFO basis from Cairns. You will empower teams, ensure safe and compliant delivery, and contribute to the growth of our majority Aboriginal‑owned organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Manage on‑site works from initial set‑up through to project completion.
• Ensure compliance with HSEQ requirements and maintain plant and equipment in working order.
• Control costs and schedule to meet project deadlines and budgets.
• Coordinate direct labour, labour‑hire and subcontractors.
• Liaise with Supervisors to delegate work efficiently.
• Provide weekly progress reports and conduct project meetings.
• Offer technical, trade or engineering advice as needed.
• Drive problem‑solving and develop innovative solutions.

Required profile

• Previous experience in construction projects and site safety practices.
• Frontline management experience on remote work sites.
• Strong communication, negotiation and influencing abilities.
• Attention to detail with the ability to prioritise deadlines.
• Current driving licence.
• Experience in budgeting, stakeholder and subcontractor management, documentation and approvals.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with MS Project (advantage).
