Senior Teacher – Learning in Country

About the role

The Senior Teacher – Learning in Country will join the leadership team at Yuendumu School in the Northern Territory, delivering a culturally grounded educational program. This role combines strategic leadership with hands‑on teaching to improve outcomes for Indigenous students.

Key responsibilities

• Provide innovative leadership and management for the Learning in Country program.
• Collaborate with the school leadership team to design and deliver culturally responsive curricula.
• Lead professional development for teaching staff on Indigenous pedagogies.
• Monitor and evaluate student outcomes to ensure optimal educational achievement.
• Engage with community stakeholders to integrate local knowledge into teaching practices.
• Manage program budget and resources in line with Department guidelines.
• Prepare regular reports on progress and outcomes for the Department of Education and Training.

Required profile

• Senior Teacher 1 classification as defined by the NT education system.
• Demonstrated experience in school leadership and program implementation.
• Hold a recognized teaching qualification and be registered with the NT Teacher Registration Board.
• Commitment to delivering high‑quality education in remote Indigenous communities.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote community setting.
