About the role
The Department of Health is recruiting qualified Registered Nurses to join the team at West Coast District Hospital in Tasmania. You will deliver safe, high‑quality nursing care across a range of services, including acute, sub‑acute, palliative, emergency, aged‑care and community clinics.
Key responsibilities
- Provide clinically appropriate nursing care to patients and their families in partnership with multidisciplinary health professionals.
- Work across the hospital’s 9 sub‑acute beds, palliative suite, emergency first‑response unit and the 16‑bed aged‑care residential facility.
- Support visiting services such as radiology, diabetic clinic, physiotherapy and podiatry.
- Maintain accurate patient records and adhere to hospital policies and regulatory standards.
- Participate in shift work, covering up to 76 hours per fortnight, with flexible full‑time or part‑time arrangements.
Required profile
- Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.
- Current registration to work with vulnerable people.
- Ability to meet the essential criteria outlined in the Statement of Duties.

What we offer
- Salary range $80,524 – $109,175 per annum (pro‑rated), plus 12% superannuation.
- Potential progression to Grade 4 with a salary range of $102,439 – $109,175.
- Post‑graduate allowance up to 10% of base salary.
