Regional Director – Child & Family Services

About the role

The Queensland Government is seeking a Regional Director to lead child and family services across the Sunshine Coast and Central Queensland. This senior executive position oversees day‑to‑day operations of child protection and placement services, driving strategic initiatives and ensuring culturally responsive, needs‑based delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and stewardship for the regional child protection portfolio.
• Manage day‑to‑day operations, service models, and performance outcomes.
• Partner with senior executives across the Queensland public service and inter‑jurisdictional agencies to develop solutions.
• Lead governance, policy implementation, and service delivery improvements.
• Foster partnerships, alliances, and a capable workforce focused on client and community outcomes.
• Represent the department in inter‑governmental and sector relations, emphasizing cultural responsiveness, especially for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Required profile

• Extensive senior leadership experience in large, complex organisations.
• Proven track record of delivering change in high‑demand child protection environments.
• Strong background in strategy, policy implementation, governance, and client service.
• High integrity, resilience, and ability to adapt to a constantly changing environment.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
