Plant Operator – Excavator

About the role

We are looking for a practical, hands‑on Plant Operator to join our Brooklyn yard, supporting daily yard activities, ensuring safe operations and assisting customers with basic enquiries.

Key responsibilities

• Operate plant equipment including material handlers, forklifts, loaders and excavators (where licensed).
• Load and unload trucks, skip bins and trailers.
• Grade, sort and manage metals to meet operational and quality standards.
• Maintain site compliance with environmental guidelines and occupational health & safety policies.
• Deliver excellent service to internal and external customers.

Required profile

• Licensed forklift operation experience (license essential).
• Proven excavator operating experience (license essential).
• Loader, skid‑steer or other plant tickets – advantageous.
• Good customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative and be flexible.
• Strong attention to detail, reliability and excellent attendance.
• Positive, can‑do attitude and openness to training.
