Operator – Full Time Permanent (Level 3C & 4C)

About the role

Hinchinbrook Shire Council is hiring multiple motivated Operators to join its Infrastructure Operations team. The roles involve delivering construction and maintenance activities across the region, operating a range of plant and equipment, and upholding high standards of safety, environmental responsibility and teamwork.

Key responsibilities

• Operate municipal plant and machinery such as backhoe, roller, loader, skid steer and excavator (Level 3C).
• Operate water trucks for road construction, dust suppression, fire prevention and landscaping (Level 4C).
• Perform routine inspections, servicing and minor maintenance to keep equipment safe and operational.
• Assist with civil construction and maintenance tasks including roadworks, drainage, footpaths, concreting, asphalting and basic traffic management.
• Load, transport and distribute water efficiently while minimizing environmental impact.

Required profile

• Reliable and capable operator with experience in civil construction or local government environments.
• Strong commitment to safety, teamwork and environmental best practice.
• Adaptable and willing to undertake a mix of plant operation and manual labour tasks.
• Able to work effectively in outdoor conditions and contribute to essential community infrastructure.
