Maintenance Fitter

About the role

BlueScope’s Lysaght business in Novar Gardens is seeking a Maintenance Fitter to join its maintenance team. You will be the first point of contact for equipment issues, ensuring that plant machinery operates safely and reliably across a range of steel‑building product lines. The position works a day shift, Monday‑Friday, with overtime available.

Key responsibilities

• Interact with the maintenance Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to log and track work.
• Assess job risks, isolate equipment and carry out corrective maintenance.
• Inspect machinery, diagnose faults and perform repairs or rebuilds.
• Respond promptly to breakdowns and coordinate urgent repairs.
• Plan and execute scheduled and unscheduled shutdowns.
• Identify and implement improvements to maintenance strategies.

Required profile

• Good communication skills.

Required skills

• Experience in a heavy industrial environment.
• Repair and maintenance of manufacturing equipment, including machine rebuilds and improvements.
• Lathe and milling machine operation.
• Use of maintenance management systems (CMMS) and basic computer proficiency.
