Locum Pain Clinic Physician – Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation

About the role

The Vancouver Island Health Authority is seeking a locum pain clinic physician to join its growing academic department in Victoria. This temporary position offers the chance to provide specialised care to patients with chronic pain while contributing to the education of future physicians.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct clinical care to patients with chronic pain in a multidisciplinary pain clinic.
• Conduct comprehensive assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, and perform procedures as appropriate.
• Teach and supervise medical students and residents from the University of British Columbia and the Island Medical Program.
• Collaborate with allied health professionals across two tertiary hospital sites in Victoria.

Required profile

• Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification in a primary specialty (or equivalent).
• Completed accredited chronic pain fellowship.
• Eligibility for full licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia.

Required skills

• Expertise in pain assessment and management.
• Ability to deliver teaching and mentorship to learners.
• Strong interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
