Learning Support Officer (Co-Ed)

About the role

The Learning Support Officer (Co‑Ed) will work closely with classroom teachers to design and deliver personalised learning programmes for students who have additional learning and support needs. This role involves modelling best practice, monitoring progress and collaborating with families to maximise each student’s learning outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, implement, model, monitor and evaluate teaching programmes for students with additional learning needs in partnership with regular classroom teachers.
• Develop and apply personalised adjustments to learning plans together with the classroom teacher, student and/or parent or carer.
• Model exemplary classroom practice when tailoring adjusted learning programmes.
• Provide direct support to students using a range of instructional strategies.
• Offer assistance to the school’s learning and support team and contribute to professional learning for teachers and support officers.
• Collaborate with a network of local schools where appropriate.

Required profile

• Understanding of diverse learning needs and strategies to address them.
• Ability to work effectively with families to support student learning at school and at home.
• Experience in supporting students with additional learning and support needs is desirable.
