Financial Controller – Property Operations

About the role

The privately owned property operations business in inner Melbourne is seeking a Financial Controller to own the finance function and partner closely with the CFO. This senior position sits at the heart of decision‑making, covering control, FP&A, treasury and business partnering.

Key responsibilities

• Own month‑end close and produce high‑quality management, board and owner reporting.
• Lead FP&A activities including budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis to support commercial decisions.
• Act as a business partner to senior leadership, translating financial performance into actionable insight.
• Provide treasury support, including cash‑flow forecasting and monitoring of banking facilities.
• Manage statutory compliance obligations such as GST, payroll tax, FBT and IAS lodgements.
• Lead the annual external audit process.
• Develop and lead a small corporate finance team.

Required profile

• CA or CPA qualified (or equivalent).
• 5–8 years of finance experience, with recent senior financial controller or finance manager exposure.
• Proven capability across financial control and commercial finance.
• Experience in a property‑adjacent, build‑to‑rent, hospitality or recurring‑revenue service business is highly regarded.

Required skills

• Xero (experience preferred).
