Documentation Technician Internship – Sunshine Coast

About the role

GHD is looking for a Documentation Technician Intern to join its Sunshine Coast office. This entry‑level position offers hands‑on experience in engineering drafting and design while you complete an Associate Degree or Advanced Diploma in Engineering.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing engineering drawings using AutoCAD or other 3D design software.
• Collaborate with senior team members on technical tasks and follow guidance.
• Develop knowledge of GHD’s Digital Design Manual, BIM processes and related tools.
• Attend TAFE or university courses while participating in a structured work‑based training program.

Required profile

• Completion of QCE (or equivalent) with strong foundations in Mathematics and English.
• Enrolled or planning to enrol in an Associate Degree / Advanced Diploma in Engineering (or approved equivalent).
• Strong desire to build a career as a professional drafter/designer.
• Well‑developed communication skills, attention to detail and a positive learning attitude.

Required skills

• AutoCAD (experience desirable but not essential).
• Familiarity with Revit, 12d, Plant3D, Advance Steel, Inventor or Solidworks is a plus.
• Basic understanding of BIM (Building Information Modelling).
