Deli Assistant – Full‑time

About the role

The Deli Assistant is responsible for preparing high‑quality hot and cold deli products while ensuring customer satisfaction remains the top priority. You will work in a fast‑paced retail environment, supporting the Centra brand values of being proud, energetic, imaginative, and community‑based.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare customer orders across all fresh‑food areas, including making sandwiches, rolling items, serving hot foods, and slicing meats using store portion‑control measures.
• Cook, prepare, and display deli items throughout the day to maintain freshness and appeal.
• Maintain counter displays in all fresh‑food departments to the highest standards at all times.
• Share product knowledge, recipes, and personal recommendations with shoppers to inspire purchases.
• Handle customer queries efficiently, professionally, and in line with store policy.

Required profile

• Excellent communication skills.
• Previous customer‑service experience is an advantage.
• Ability to work as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment and multitask under pressure.
• A passion for food and the ability to inspire shoppers.
• HACCP training is desirable but not mandatory.

Required skills

• HACCP knowledge (preferred).
