Defence Project Manager – Estate Works Program

About the role

Mott MacDonald’s Defence and Security Division is seeking experienced Project Managers to lead multidisciplinary design projects within the Estate Works Program (EWP) across the Australian Defence Estate. The role involves full‑lifecycle delivery of infrastructure projects, driving excellence and efficiency while supporting a collaborative, high‑performing team.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver EWP projects on schedule, within budget, and to high‑quality standards in a Defence environment.
• Foster collaboration across internal project teams and industry delivery partners.
• Proactively manage issues, drive decision‑making, and lead resolution pathways.
• Evaluate and mitigate risks for Defence clients.
• Manage and support technical and quality‑assurance activities related to design and safety analysis of Defence infrastructure.
• Provide mentorship to staff developing expertise in major infrastructure delivery.
• Undertake overnight travel to project locations as required.

Required profile

• Relevant experience leading project delivery in building services, infrastructure, refurbishment, civil or maritime sectors; Defence experience preferred.
• Tertiary qualifications relevant to project management or engineering disciplines desirable.
• Australian citizenship and ability to obtain a baseline security clearance.
