About the role
The Specialist Pharmacist will join a multidisciplinary team within the Department of Health Tasmania to deliver expert clinical pharmacy services for the Alcohol and Drug Service. This on‑site position focuses on improving patient outcomes in the Pharmacotherapy and Inpatient Withdrawal Units.
Key responsibilities
- Provide specialist clinical pharmacy care to patients in the Pharmacotherapy and Inpatient Withdrawal Units.
- Dispense, dose and manage medications for daily Pharmacotherapy patients and for discharge from the Inpatient Withdrawal Units.
- Act as a resource pharmacist for the area of alcohol, tobacco and other drug expertise.
- Deliver education and information on consumer medication information to staff and clients.
- Work weekends and public holidays as required and collaborate with medical, nursing and allied health staff.
Required profile
- Registered pharmacist with specialist knowledge of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs.
- Strong teamwork and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
- Willingness to work on‑site only, including shift work, weekends and public holidays.
- Ability to commit to a fixed‑term part‑time schedule (32 hours per fortnight) until 4 January 2027.

- Salary range $110,425 – $121,097 per annum (AUD) plus 12% superannuation.
