Ingres Developer – C/C++ on Unix Platforms

About the role

Tata Consultancy Services (APAC) is seeking an experienced Ingres Developer to join its sustainable‑focused technology team. You will work on Unix‑based environments, developing and maintaining applications that leverage the Ingres database while contributing to the company’s carbon‑neutral initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy applications using C/C++ on Solaris/Linux platforms.
• Build Ingres databases from scratch, perform data migrations, and optimise complex queries.
• Manage defect tracking, resolve issues, and provide regular system updates.
• Create technical specifications, test plans, and documentation.
• Monitor daily system performance and deliver required support.
• Investigate emerging technologies and contribute to continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an Ingres Developer with a strong background in C and C++ programming.
• Hands‑on experience with Solaris (or Linux) environments and shell scripting.
• Familiarity with Agile development practices is desirable.
• Passion for technology and willingness to work independently end‑to‑end.

Required skills

• Ingres 4GL, Ingres ABF, QBF, ISQL, database procedures, rules, and events.
• Database design and development using Ingres.
• Optimization of complex Ingres queries.
• Strong C and C++ programming skills.
• Shell scripting on Unix platforms.
• Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle and Agile methodologies.
• Experience with AWS cloud services (optional).
