Vocational Skills Instructor Pool – Cabinet Shop, Chef, Industrial Relief, Section 95

About the role

The Vocational Skills Instructor pool provides qualified trainers to deliver culturally appropriate, industry‑based training within the Eastern Goldfields Regional Prison. Instructors teach and supervise prisoners in areas such as cabinet making, commercial cookery, industrial relief trades and Section 95 programmes, supporting prison operations and rehabilitation.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver and assess on‑the‑job and accredited training sessions for prisoners.
• Supervise workshop activities, ensuring health, safety and compliance with industry standards.
• Maintain training records, competency registers and equipment inventories.
• Develop lesson plans and instructional materials tailored to the prison environment.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to prisoners to achieve trade qualifications.

Required profile

• Australian citizen or permanent resident.
• C class driver’s licence and current senior first‑aid accreditation.
• Relevant qualification for the specific stream (e.g., Certificate III in Cabinet Making, Certificate III in Hospitality, relevant trade qualification or significant industry experience).
• Construction Industry White Card where applicable.
