Training Officer

About the role

The Training Officer will support the delivery, development and continuous improvement of training and competency programmes at HVO, a large open‑cut mining operation in the NSW Hunter Valley. Reporting to the Training Coordinator, you will work closely with leaders and employees to build workforce capability, ensure compliance and foster a strong learning and safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate and deliver training programmes in line with site standards, procedures and safety systems.
• Maintain accurate training records and documentation within the site’s Learning Management System (LMS).
• Review and update training materials, assessments and learning resources to keep them current and compliant.
• Monitor training compliance through reporting tools and proactively identify training needs.
• Collaborate with the Training Coordinator, Superintendents, Supervisors and operational stakeholders to develop and implement training and compliance plans.
• Support workforce capability development through coaching, mentoring and engagement with employees and leaders.
• Assist in the continuous improvement of training systems, processes and learning programmes.

Required profile

• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE) or equivalent.
• Demonstrated experience as a Training Officer, Trainer/Assessor or similar role in an industrial, mining or heavy‑industry environment.
• Strong understanding of quality training systems, learning materials and competency‑based programmes.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and enhancing training outcomes.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and influence outcomes.
