Site Supervisor – Battery Energy Storage System (BESS)

About the role

The Site Supervisor will lead day‑to‑day on‑site supervision and coordination of all Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) construction activities for a hybrid solar‑BESS project. Reporting to the Construction Manager, the role ensures safe execution, compliance with approved IFC designs, and adherence to quality and programme requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Directly supervise BESS construction activities, including battery container installation, PCS/PCU system installation, RMU installation, auxiliary transformer placement, HV/LV cable installation, earthing systems, and SCADA/communications infrastructure.
• Coordinate and sequence crane lifts for container and transformer installations, ensuring lift plans, rigging inspections, and exclusion zones are in place.
• Manage BESS‑specific installation sequences according to OEM requirements to support staged pre‑commissioning.
• Allocate daily work fronts, resolve sequencing conflicts, and interface civil, electrical, and communications trades.
• Maintain and communicate a three‑week look‑ahead programme, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies with the Construction Manager.
• Oversee site safety compliance, maintain construction quality records, and act as the primary on‑site interface between the Construction Manager and all subcontractor personnel.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising BESS or large‑scale renewable energy construction projects.
• Ability to manage multiple subcontractor trades and coordinate daily work sequencing.
• Strong understanding of site safety standards and quality control procedures.
• Experience reporting to senior construction leadership and handling programme interfaces.
