Senior Team Leader – Child Safety Services

About the role

The Senior Team Leader provides strategic leadership and day‑to‑day management of a multidisciplinary team delivering high‑quality child protection services. This role ensures compliance with legislation, departmental policies and best practice while fostering a collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of Child Safety Officers to deliver assessment, intervention, case work and case management services.
• Allocate, prioritize and monitor work tasks in line with the Framework for Practice and statutory requirements.
• Develop service responses with the Service Centre Manager to meet client needs across children, families, carers and community partners.
• Identify training gaps, collaborate with training specialists and support staff development.
• Build and maintain cross‑sector partnerships to enhance service delivery.
• Provide expert advice on complex casework, policy, legislation and practice.
• Participate in management team meetings and quality assurance reviews.
• Promote excellence in service delivery and public administration within the regional community.

Required profile

• Proven leadership and people‑management experience in a community or child protection setting.
• Strong knowledge of child protection legislation, departmental policies and practice guidelines.
• Ability to allocate resources, prioritize workload and make informed decisions.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and high‑quality service outcomes.
