Senior Teacher – Wellbeing and Inclusion

About the role

The Department of Education and Training is seeking a Senior Teacher focused on Wellbeing and Inclusion to join its Top End Regional Services team in Palmerston. This role provides strategic leadership in developing and implementing policies, programs and practices that support optimal educational outcomes for students with additional needs.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, review and implementation of school and departmental policies related to student wellbeing and inclusion.
• Develop and deliver educational programs that address the diverse needs of learners, ensuring equitable access to learning.
• Collaborate with school leaders, teachers and external agencies to embed inclusive practices across the region.
• Provide guidance, mentorship and professional development to teaching staff on wellbeing and inclusion strategies.
• Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, reporting outcomes to senior management.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in teaching, with a focus on wellbeing, inclusion or special education.
• Demonstrated leadership ability in policy development and program implementation.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Relevant teaching qualifications and registration as required by the Territory.

Required skills

• Knowledge of inclusive education frameworks and wellbeing initiatives.
• Experience in curriculum design for diverse learner groups.
• Ability to analyse data and produce evidence‑based recommendations.
