Senior Director Facilities Maintenance

About the role

The Senior Director of Facilities Maintenance leads the Facilities Management (FM) function for Canberra Health Services, overseeing both acute and non‑acute health facilities. Reporting to the Branch Manager, Infrastructure and Facilities Services, the role is responsible for strategic planning and execution of planned and reactive maintenance across a large hospital portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop internal FM trade staff and external contractors.
• Strategically manage planned and reactive maintenance activities for all NCH and CHH properties.
• Ensure compliance with Australian Standards, health facility guidelines, legislation and CHS policies.
• Oversee day‑to‑day maintenance operations, including asset, utilities and contract management.
• Manage the facilities budget and financial performance.
• Negotiate contracts and represent the organisation at senior levels.

Required profile

• Extensive knowledge of facilities management in a healthcare environment.
• Deep understanding of relevant compliance, standards, legislation and health facility guidelines.
• Proven leadership and management experience, including large‑scale team and contractor oversight.
• Strong negotiation skills and ability to operate at senior organisational levels.
