Senior Backend Developer (Python/Django) – Canberra

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Backend Developer to join a Federal Government client in Canberra on a two‑year contract. The role focuses on building and maintaining Python/Django applications, supporting Linux‑based environments, and delivering robust DevOps solutions in a hybrid work setting.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Python and the Django framework.
• Manage Linux operating systems and ensure server reliability.
• Implement version control using Git and oversee code repositories.
• Automate deployment pipelines with Docker, Kubernetes, and continuous integration tools.
• Develop and optimise databases in PostgreSQL, MySQL or SQL environments.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑quality software solutions.

Required profile

• Negative Vetting Level 1 clearance.
• Senior‑level experience in backend development.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail.
