Product Design Engineer – Manufacturing & Design

About the role

We are looking for a Product Design Engineer to join ASSA ABLOY’s design team in Carole Park, Queensland. The role involves creating new products, testing them against relevant standards and supporting their launch to market.

Key responsibilities

• Develop solid‑model designs, calculations and specifications to guide production.
• Produce detailed engineering drawings and, where required, design tools, material lists and cost estimates.
• Verify that purchased materials and components meet design specifications.
• Plan and execute comprehensive test programmes to ensure product conformity.
• Prepare technical documentation for sales enquiries, quotations, contracts and failure analyses.
• Liaise with suppliers, clients and consultants throughout design, installation and commissioning phases.
• Redesign existing products, rationalise components and develop patentable or registrable designs to Australian Standards.
• Validate products for design‑control processes and create product manuals.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years experience as a Product Design Engineer or in a similar role.
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering with strong mechanical aptitude.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
• Analytical mindset with experience in forecasting and planning.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
