Port Operator / Labourer

About the role

The Operator/Labourer supports the Port’s Maintenance team by maintaining wharves, boat ramps, moorings and related infrastructure, ensuring all works programmes are delivered safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the Port’s wharves, equipment, boat ramps, moorings and navigational aids.
• Operate floating plant, mobile plant and other machinery required for maintenance tasks.
• Carry out structural and mechanical repairs, installations and commissioning of Port plant and services.
• Respond promptly to breakdowns and perform emergency equipment inspections and testing.
• Record time and materials, complete inspection check‑sheets and report schedule deficiencies.
• Follow TAKE 5, SOPs and assist with Job Safety Environmental Analyses.
• Participate in emergency response drills and assist in restoring Port operations.
• Support the Port’s strategic plans and ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality legislation.

Required profile

• Current Queensland C‑class driver licence.
• Valid Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B and Tetanus vaccinations.
• Construction Induction (White Card) and ability to pass a functional medical (20 kg).
• Experience working in a marine infrastructure maintenance environment.
• Ability to perform frequent manual handling, ladder work and work in non‑air‑conditioned outdoor conditions.
